Import and Export

Import and export of goods and services in 2006 rose by 3.1% and 4.9%.
Total export of goods and services from Israel in 2006 reached 62.6 billion dollars, an increase of 9% over the previous year.

In 2006, the total import of goods (excluding diamonds) was 38.7 billion dollars, representing a rise of 9.3% compared with 2005. The total export of goods (excluding diamonds) was 30.6 billion dollars, representing a rise of 14.4%, compared with 2005.

Industrial exports are the main component of Israel's exports – 74% of the goods exported, reaching 29.3 billion dollars, and an increase of 15% over 2005.

Services exported by Israel was 19.3 billion dollars in 2006, an increase of 10% over the previous year, continuing the trend since 2005.

Export of goods by region 2006: North America is the principal destination of Israeli goods, 40% of the total. Export to the E.U. amounts to 27% and Asia is the third destination, with 19% of the total.

Goods and services imported reached a total of 61.7 billion dollars, an increase of 7% compared to the previous year. In 2005 the increase was 10%. The total of all imports (excluding military imports, ships, airplanes and diamonds) rose by 5% in 2006 compared to 5.2% in 2005.

Custom/import licensing

Certain imported goods require a license from the appropriate authorities. Different imported items are liable to different customs rates.
The rate for any particular item should be checked carefully with a registered customs agent before actual importation.
